Sustainability. We leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver circular and highly energy-efficient solutions.

Skygard will be a role model for green data centers in the Nordic region
In an era where data centers are pivotal to the sustainable digitalization of society, Skygard stands as a visionary project in both energy and land use. Skygard's circular energy design serves as a pilot project for the future of data centers in Norway.Skygard has a strategic partnership with Hafslund Celsio to ensure efficient energy recovery and reduce the climate footprint of data center operations. Through this partnership, excess heat from Skygard's first data center in Hovinbyen will be directly integrated into Hafslund Celsio's district heating network. This initiative supports both national and regional goals for emission reductions and sustainable energy use.

The external environment is important
Skygard is committed to contributing to the local community where we establish ourselves. Skygard DC1 is centrally located in Hovinbyen, one of Oslo’s largest urban development areas.Skygard has worked with skilled contractors and architects to transform a former industrial site into a forward-looking data center featuring green spaces and a unique architectural expression.

Sustainability and Economy

When choosing a data center, it's not just about capacity and availability – it's also about economics and sustainability. Our data centers are built to deliver maximum performance with minimal environmental impact. This means lower energy costs, reduced climate risk, and increased attractiveness in a market where sustainable choices are becoming increasingly important. A green data center is not just good for the environment – it's a smart economic choice.
At Skygard, we use renewable energy, efficient cooling solutions, and energy-efficient equipment that help reduce electricity costs. Our operations are both sustainable and cost-effective, providing our customers with economic benefits through lower energy expenses. Our data centers are among the most energy-efficient in the world, with an average PUE of 1.2, compared to the global average of 1.56. This means a larger share of the energy goes directly to powering IT equipment, significantly reducing overall energy costs.
A green data center enhances your environmental profile and makes your business more attractive to customers, partners, and investors.Sustainability is increasingly becoming a requirement in procurement processes, especially in the public sector and among large companies with their own climate goals. As of January 1, 2024, stricter requirements have been introduced in public procurement, mandating that climate and environmental considerations must be weighted at a minimum of 30 percent. This is part of a broader trend where environmental criteria in procurement are gaining more focus, leading to stricter demands on suppliers in line with sustainable objectives.
Skygard is a modern data center that invests in smart energy management systems and the reuse of waste heat.We not only enhance sustainability but also optimize resource usage, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Choosing a green data center demonstrates responsibility. It reduces reputational risk and strengthens your brand – an important part of long-term value creation.
